Congratulations on receiving the Raymond J. Sachs
teaching award. You deserve it! I want thank you for your help and guidance to
me for the last 5 years. I know that I can speak for the monastic community,
and say, that we thank you for your service to us in our liturgy. God Bless
you, as you continue your service here at St. Benedict's.

Dr. Fletcher, Fr. Dunstan Smith co-moderator
Dear Dr. Lansang,
When thinking of how I would like to congratulate you for winning the Raymond J. Sachs Teaching Award, I have had the benefit of first reviewing all the other blogs that students wrote. Not surprisingly, food was one top focus of most of those entries from our high school aged students. Since I often get a behind the scenes look at the work you do, I feel I should fill out the picture of all of the other roles that you undertake, including the academic and organizational committee member, the yearbook advisor, the photographer, the church organist, the convocation musician, the field trip chaperone, the open house interviewer, the convocation reflector, the choir director, the video instructor, the Dunstan Smith co-moderator, and many other jobs too numerous to mention. However, it is not any of those things that truly distinguish you. The other top focus of our group’s letters was on the small kindnesses that you show to students everyday. I think that the name of the prize you just received should be changed to the Raymond J. Sachs Humanitarian Award, because that is what sets you apart as a teacher, a colleague, and most importantly, a human being.

Dr. Lansang,
When I met you five
years ago I thought you were different and I couldn’t tell in what way. But as I grew and got to know more about you
I really do know that you are special. I
believe that its people like yourself that makes SBP a one of a kind
place. I cannot put into words how
grateful I am of everything you’ve done for me.
I just want you to know that you are one of my role models in life and
when I grow up I hope to be half the man you are.

Dear Dr. Lansang
I would like to say that I am glad to have gotten to know
you and have you as one of my group moderators.
You are one of the many people who have made my four years in St.
Benedict’s precious and I greatly thank you for that. I enjoyed the group periods and classes that
I have taken with you and greatly thank you for the times you were helpful to
me in and outside of the classroom.
Congratulations on winning the teaching award! I believe that you truly deserved it. Thank you for everything that you have done
for me and the class of ’13. Please help
the next students as much as you have helped us. Stay funny!
Maraming Salamat!

Dear Dr. Lansang,
You are very helping and teach me a lot even though I don’t
have your class. You are a very humble
person and you have multiple impacts on people’s lives. The little thing that you do are great. For example, when we have Chinese food it
always makes my week a good week. When
you subbed in for Cass it was one of the best classes – it felt as if it was
fun to learn. It’s an honor knowing that
you are my group moderator and you help a lot and I thank you again D-Lang!

Dr. Lansang is a very nice guy. He was the one who encouraged me to do well
on my school work and not pay attention so much to soccer because if I get
injured like I did last year I would have something to fall back on just in
case.

Dear Dr. Lansang,
Even though I’ve only known you a couple of months, you have
helped me to continue to work hard. You
are very generous with your knowledge and time.
I also remember when you bought us all Chinese food. Thank you by the way!
You always ask the freshmen how we are doing, and if we’re
not doing well either academically or personally, you talk to us and help
us. Without your positive attitude, I
would probably be dead after 3rd block. Thank you for everything you’ve done.

Dear Dr. Lansang,
I appreciate all that you have done for me and our group
(Dunstan Smith). You have helped me in
many of my struggles. I will never
forget the time that you helped me print out a paper and afterwards wrote me a
late pass to class. Something I really
appreciated (and I am sure our group did too) was having a Chinese food lunch
for us.
From what I have heard from your students, you are a very
educated man. I cannot wait until next
year to have your class. I believe that
your class will teach me a lot and help me in the future. For this D-Lang I thank you and all your good
deeds.

It was freshman year and I was sitting in the café holding
my stomach, halfway through lunch and I hadn’t eaten a thing. The problem was that my Pops didn’t have
lunch money for me so I had to ask around.
I didn’t even get a dime from anyone.
As I watched all my classmates munch on hamburgers, chicken patties,
chicken salad, wraps, and fries, I lowered my head and recognized my fate. I was going to have to wait until I got home
to eat. But then Dr. Lansang came into
the room. As a last ditch effort I ran
to him and told him my situation.
Without hesitation, he gave me a $10 bill. I only asked for $3. He told me to get whatever I wanted and just
to give him back the change. I thanked
him and ran into the line to get my food.
However, a couple of weeks later, the situation reoccurred and once
again he gave me money. Ever since then,
anytime I needed money for lunch, Dr. Lansang never hesitates to give me some.

Dear Dr. Lansang,
Congratulations on your award! You’ve earned. Not only have you received something, but you
have given me guidance, support, and perseverance which allowed me to survive
this semester. I am truly grateful and
appreciative of your caring acts. Thank you!

Dr. Lansang helped me positively by giving me motivation if
I was struggling in school. He gave me
encouragement for school work, basketball, and more. If you need something he will be there for
you. If you are not able to eat he will
kindly give you money. He goes out of
his way to help others who are having problems.

Dr. Lansang has helped everyone in this school in one way or
another. He played an important part in
me being here. When he interviewed me he
told me all the great things about the school, and now I know that it is
true. This school does have its ups and
downs but he helped me to stay on top of my priorities by always reminding me
to do an activity and by giving me an organized planner. He has also given all the students here good
spirit by singing during convocation. He
is very important to his school.

I have only known Dr. Lansang for a short amount of time,
but he helped me in some way. He gave me
information on surviving this semester, and talked to me on a personal
note. I am grateful for the things he
has done for me including checking up on me, because I need it to keep on
point.
